Slopica river

A left-bank tributary of Drawa, about 21km long and with the area of 108 km². Before the WWII it was called Młyński Potok, because of its two mills: Bukowy and Kościany. It drains a strip of lakes called Dominikowe Jeziora: Inster, Szerokie, Krzywe Dębsko, Dominikowo, and it flows into Drawa near the forester’s lodge in Międzybór. It runs through Dominikowo and Niemieńsko. Beneath Niemieńsko it runs through dense forests, creating a picturesque valley.

The meadows near the castle in Niemieńsko hold the remains of an old hill-top irrigation system. Numerous trout live in this river, though they don’t reach very large sizes. Besides them there are white-finned gudgeon, Eurasian minnow, dace, perch, and roach. The Słopica waters are show a relatively high level of pollution caused by the nearby fields and inadequately filtered sewage from the nearby Niemieńsko and Dominikowo.

Old, handsome oaks are numerous in this river’s valley. In its lower parts there are pretty alder and ash-lined swamps. Słopica remains within the Park borders only at its estuary 700m
